At Matthew Arnold Primary School, we aim to provide pupils with a mathematics curriculum that will produce individuals who are numerate, literate, creative, independent, inquisitive, enquiring and confident.
We aim to provide stimulating environments and experiences so that pupils can develop their mathematical skills to their full potential, whilst at the same time developing a love of learning and an appreciation of the wonderful patterns underpinning the world of mathematics.
The aims of the national curriculum are to ensure all pupils: –
We have adapted the Liverpool Maths Plans to ensure depth and breadth across all objectives and to ensure that children are developing mastery skills and having opportunities to apply these in different ways.
At Matthew Arnold we believe that maths should thrive outside of the maths lesson. That is why we identify cross-curricular opportunities to explore maths and use our maths ambassadors to promote a range of events throughout the year, including: TT Rockstars competitions and cake sales. We greatly value the participation of our parents in our maths number days and all of their support in maths homework activities.
