At Matthew Arnold Primary School we deliver a high-quality music curriculum that aims to engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, increasing self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. We encourage children to participate in a variety of musical experiences through which we aim to build up the confidence of all children. Children enjoy singing songs and learning about the structure and organisation of music. They listen to and appreciate different forms of music and develop descriptive skills when learning about how music can represent feelings and emotions. Children work with others to make music and develop understanding of musical notation and composition music.
In Year 3 and 4 children participate in the Resonate Wider Opportunities Programme; a specialist music teacher delivers a weekly instrumental lesson, developing childrens' skills and understanding of music through learning to play the guitar / ukulele.
